The U-SoA Design Shop is a student support initiative dedicated to helping every University of Miami School of Architecture student thrive. Located in the Jan Hochstim Commons within the Murphy Building, the Design Shop connects students with the resources, expertise, and guidance they need throughout their academic journey.
Sponsored by the Office of Academic Services, and in collaboration with the Fabrication Lab and Model Shop, the Design Shop offers one-on-one assistance to both undergraduate and graduate students at no cost. A team of Teaching Assistants, together with Design Shop Coordinator, Yasmine Zeghar, are available to support students with design and drawing coursework, facilitate the completion of assignments, and help them achieve their academic goals. Whether you need tutoring, access to tools and supplies, guidance using fabrication technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and robotic equipment, or consultations related to the architecture profession, the Design Shop is here to help.
Students can visit the Design Shop during lunch between 12 and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday or schedule virtual or in-person consultations. To make an appointment, contact designshop@miami.edu.
