Urban designers and thinkers need to be aware of how their designs and contributions lead to more equitable, just spaces and communities, and how the built environment has historically created obstacles towards these ends. Further, the process of bringing insights and knowledge from community members and residents is a critical area of architectural and urbanism theory and practice.
