Architecture, Urbanism and Climate Change Conference

ARCC 2025 invites paper and poster submissions that address the emerging challenges defining architectural research now. We are interested in research addressing the grand challenges at a range of scales, from macro to micro. We seek research at the global, regional, national, and local levels. We are interested in investigations at dual scales, such as impacts on the individual within the environment, the building within the city, the city within the region, etc.

Reinterpreting Tradition: Contemporary Insights Towards Buttoned Houses’ Technique

This international competition aims to integrate the cultural heritage of Antalya's traditional construction technique, Buttoned Houses (Düğmeli Evler), with contemporary architectural practices.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Fellowships 

The purpose of this program is to support individual scholars pursuing projects that embody exceptional humanistic research, rigorous analysis, and clear writing. Fellowships provide recipients with time to conduct research or produce books, monographs, peer-reviewed articles, e-books, digital materials, translations with annotations or a critical apparatus, or critical editions resulting from previous research.

ESG Honor Society is an honor society that seeks to educate our campus about environmental issues. One of our core beliefs is that environmental science is truly interdisciplinary and touches all departments on campus. In order to create a diverse and interdisciplinary community, we are looking for  students interested in sustainability and environmental advocacy.

In order to be classified as an active member, students must:

  • Have a 3.5 GPA issued by UM
  • Have an interest in environmentalism and sustainability, education, and advocacy

Graduate Annual Awards

Each spring semester the Graduate School hosts the Annual Awards Ceremony to showcase the important contributions and achievements made during the academic year by our graduate students and faculty in support of graduate education and the teaching, research, and service missions of our institution. Graduate Student Association, the Butler Center's Graduate Award for Excellence, which recognizes a student who has excelled in the areas of leadership, service, and academics. This award is presented at the Butler Center's annual Celebration of Involvement.

Resilience 365 Conference: Catalytic Conversations or the next 100 years
The UM Climate Resilience Institute, in partnership with Miami Dade County, will host a two-day conference to bring together communities and thought leaders to catalyze action related to driving tech innovation, financing resilience infrastructure, and fostering healthy communities. The conference is part of the inaugural Miami Climate Week hosted by Miami Climate 365 with activations and events intended to spark conversation and grow community networks around resilience.

The OVPRS is providing a one-time relief funding opportunity as part of the Project Forward initiative, to  support faculty in making their research accessible to a broader audience by funding publications. Since  funding is limited, only publications with an impact factor of at least 4 will be funded this cycle.

23rd Annual South Florida Tri-University Conference | Hemispheric Dialogues: Advancing Research in the Americas

This guide provides information on open access publishing support provided by the University of Miami Libraries. The Libraries have established publishing agreements (some are pilot programs) which provide researchers with qualifying articles the possibility of APC funding.
