This book considers the influence of the forms and tectonics of the Mediterranean vernacular on modern architectural practice and discourse from the 1920s to the 1960s. This is the first study to address the comprehensive influence of the Mediterranean on the work and writings of major figures of modern architecture. This essay collection can be read as an alternative history of the modern architecture and urbanism of a critical period in the twentieth century.
