The School of Architecture at the University of Miami offers three Post-Professional Master degrees. The Master of Urban Design (1-yr, 3-semester), formerly Master in Suburb & Town Design; The newly established Master of Science in Architecture (two tracks: Design or Architectural Studies) scheduled to start in August 2012; The 2-yr-old Master of Real Estate Development + Urbanism, which brings students a unique combination of skills in development and urbanism.

Master of Urban Design – (1-year)

NEW curriculum, starting August 2012

The Master of Urban Design (1-yr, 3-semester) was created in 1989 as the Master in Suburb & Town Design; under the new name the curriculum has been revised to both maintain the unique identity of the renowned original curriculum as a New Urbanism-oriented program and to open it to new issues and challenges for the twenty-first century such as landscape urbanism and informal cities. The program requires the completion of 36 credits over three semesters including the summer. The program is open to applicants with an architecture degree, as well as students with landscape or planning degrees with an introductory one-month summer course. An optional thesis is available in the following Spring.

Master of Science in Architecture – (1.5-year)

NEW, starting August 2012

The new Master of Science in Architecture Urban Design is a 3-semester (1.5-yr) program for students holding a Professional degree in architecture. Two tracks are available: Architectural Design / Architectural Studies. Both tracks require the completion of 36 credits, including a Master’s Thesis.

Master of Real Estate Development + Urbanism

The Master of Real Estate Development and Urbanism is an interdisciplinary one-year graduate program that combines the strengths of the University of Miami’s School of Architecture, Business Administration, and Law to create a world-class program that blends the fundamentals of real estate development with livable community planning and design. Completion of 36 credits is required over three semesters including the summer.
