Mr. Machado maintains an independent design consulting practice with 26 years of experience, including 12 with Duany Plater-Zyberk and Co., centering on traditional building and urban design. He has participated in numerous workshops across the globe, promoting principles that guide public policy, development practice, urban planning and architectural design. He has been a project manager on public and private building commissions for numerous architectural projects. Since 2001, he has served as a consultant to national and international design firms, municipalities, institutions and developers. One main area of emphasis in Mr. Machado’s work is the correspondence of the built environment with the natural environment.

Service:

Machado provides pro-bono services to non-profits, including municipalities and institutions. In April 2010, Machado participated in the Haiti Charrette sponsored by the University of Miami School of Architecture, contributing his research of incremental, sustainable growth for the redevelopment of Haiti’s built environment. In New Orleans 2006, in affiliation with the CNU, Machado participated a week-long series of meetings and design sessions to produce actionable plans for the rebuilding of the Gentilly community.
