SoA and the CUCD Produce Spanish Editions of Urban Design Publications
September 30th, 2011 — “Spanish Editions of Urban Design Publications” was a publication initiative (2002-2010) of the University of Miami School of Architecture faculty and the Center for Urban and Community Design (CUCD) members Sonia Cháo, Andres Duany and Gustavo Sanchez-Hugalde. Together, they researched the urban design and historic preservation of Ibero-American cities, including those in the Caribbean Basin. During this endeavor, it became evident that urban designers and scholars in those regions did not have access to seminal books on urban design in their native language. The J.M. Kaplan Fund generously funded the translation, editing and printing of five seminal books on urban design. All books are being donated to universities, students and professional associations in the Caribbean Basin and Latin America. Authors have donated their copyrights to this effort.
