Just Published - Sitte, Hegemann and the Metropolis

March 12th, 2009Sitte, Hegemann and the Metropolis: Modern Civic Art and International Exchanges, edited by University of Miami School of Architecture Professors Charles C. Bohl and Jean-François Lejeune. The volume brings together rich perspectives on the thought, practice and enduring legacy of leading figures from the great era of town planning and civic art from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The essays in this volume, from leading scholars in architectural history, architecture and urban design reveal the extraordinary and long-overlooked early modern work in city planning that included the practical application of timeless principles of urban design as well as innovation in the design and restructuring of blocks, streets and public spaces to accommodate massive social, economic and technological changes.
