HUD Grant to Research Benefits of Neighborhood Walkability
October 3rd, 2011 — In September, the Department of Epidemiology at the Medical School with faculty of the School of Architecture received a HUD grant for $500M to conduct research on the health of Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries in relation to where they reside. “Health Impacts of the Built-Environment among Miami Medicare/Medicaid Beneficiaries” is one of six projects supported by HUD’s Sustainable Communities Research Grant Program. Those faculty involved include Dr. Scott Brown (Dept. of Epidemiology), Dr. Jose Szapocznik (Dept. of Epidemiology), Dean Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and Professor Joanna Lombard.
