Architecture Faculty and Students Win Major AIA Awards
December 9th, 2009 — On November 21, the School’s 2009 award recipients from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Miami Chapter Celebrate Architecture + Design Month included: Allan Shulman (Shulman & Associates) Award of Excellence in Architecture for the Rubell Family Collection and Residence (seen here); two Excellence in Architecture awards for Unbuilt Design for “The Look Inn” and the “Soho Beach House;” Sebastian Eilert of the School’s part-time faculty, Award for Sustainable Design Architect; Carolyn Desmond, UM Student of the Year; UM student Tom Johnson, AIA Photo Contest for “London Eye,” Best in the Top Twenty (see on News page); and Friends of the Miami Marine Stadium, with Jorge Hernandez as one of the principals of the organization, the Historic Preservation Award.
